What is a farm collie?

A farm collie is not nessessarily a full blooded collie.

Often it is a full blooded collie or registered collie that was bred for a certain look or ability or look to have the ability to do farm work.

A farm collie can be mixed with active breeds such as Border Collies and Aussies to get what people are aiming as a better balance of personality and working traits.

It is true that many of the registered show collies now a days do not move well or can not keep up the active needs of some farms. But the wonderful personality in the standard bred collies do come through in all registered collies.  But since I am the writer of this article I have my own knowledge that there are AKC registered show collies that CAN and DO have amazing movement and health to keep up the farm work...along with keeping the standard and constant graceful beauty with the long beautiful strong head and keeping the long coat to sway in the breeze.  I also have the opinion that my collies have an easy care coat.

So if you wonder or worry about trusting the grown up appearance of your pup if it is mixed with 'farm collies' then, do not worry about choosing a good AKC registered full blooded collie that can enter shows and win. It all depends on how strong and active the parents and ancestors of your pup have been. The collie can still have the great constant standard bred line and do work too.  A good line bred AKC registered collie is still full of the graceful , strong beauty and ability to move well and work hard.
