Since my husband and I love Hawaii and have been there with dreams of
living there one day i want to give our new member of our family a Hawaiian name. I have so far chosen Kala which means princess
or noble lady from the Hebrew Sarah Since Dixie says she sits back and watches like a regal or magestic sense,
I thought this would fit her.
Hi! We don't have the full name yet, but her first name is Ulilani,
which means Beautiful Blue, in Hawaiian. We call her Lani (pronounced Lawn-ee).
Kids are so happy, Meredith
Thanks for the photos, Debra! Luz is doing great.
We did gardening this morning and she helped me dig. She has been really good about adjusting. She has a great appetite and
is already good at peeing outside! Funny how she knows that the toys, the crate, and the bowl are hers. She is living in the
puppy-proofed kitchen/dining area on the tile for now, till she graduates to the rest of the house. She is so playful and
loving and just plain fun! So I'm grateful that you do what you do! Maurine & Lisa
Cinnamon has decided she likes this name better than Canela. Cinnamon has joined Corpus
Christi Dog Club this is her first meeting I thought you would like the pictures.
She has been a little skittish of noises but we are working on that, she is going to obedience classes on Wednesday evenings
and the dog club on Saturdays. She seems to be adjusting well. Thanks again for this wonderful addition to our
family. Sincerely,
I had a very nice, leisurely 45 minute drive with Jazz
today. It was so nice, I was tempted to keep going, but after the problems this summer, I'm trying to
bring her back slow and easy... don't want to mess up a good thing being greedy. I did break out into a trot, very
short, a couple of times. Jazz did great!!! My goal is to go an hour tomorrow, if weather and traffic permit.
I have GREAT roads for driving, M-F, 8-5... but weekends it can be a little hectic. Ginger did her very first ride in the cart... and she did SUPER!!! I started her out in the floorboard,
but it was no time before I had her in the seat with me... and she did SOOOO good. At first she tried to get out, but
it only took one "No", and she never even tried again. She wanted to bark at dogs along the way, but it only
took one "No", and she never barked at any dogs, no matter how many we passed, even if they were barking.
She'd look at them, look at me, I'd shake my head no, and she'd look back at them, heavy sigh (like oh darn)...
but she didn't bark, she just sat like a lady and behaved, looking at me every now and then to see if she was doing good.
Yes, good dog!! The best part was,
she didn't get sick. For those not aware, Ginger gets horribly car sick. I can't even back out of the
driveway before she's drooling. She has puked all over the car, several times. It is a mess to clean up.
I've tried not feeding her, she still pukes liquid. I'm not a sudden stop, sudden start, drive like a maniac
driver... she just can't handle the motion. I moved her up in the front seat, hoping that would help... if it did,
I can't tell. So I was afraid she'd be throwing up in the cart. She didn't even drool. I guess
it is a different motion... that doesn't seem to bother her. Or it is because it is so slow. I did so little
trotting, it is difficult to judge how she will do at a trot... but walking, she could ride all day... and she seemed to enjoy
it. Every now and then, she'd reach over and lick me, letting me know... she was having fun. The only other
issue I had was that in the seat, she'd slip a lot on the vinyl. I need something that will provide better traction
for her, but that will be easy to come up with I'm sure. If she's sitting, and I'm sitting, there may still
be room for Billy... but it will be a stretch, and he'd definately need to behave!! Which he usually does in the
cart. If she lays in the seat, though, there is no room for Billy except in the floorboard. I'm so thrilled Jazz is getting back in the swing of things.
She had a rough summer to get through, but I think we made it!! And I'm loving my new pup! I miss Amazing
Grace, to no end, don't get me wrong. I got Billy to ride in the cart because Grace couldn't and another pup
would have displaced her in a way a goat wouldn't... I didn't expect to lose Grace this soon. Now I will have
a goat and a dog to ride in the cart.... if I can figure out how to get Billy in the cart by myself... he's so fat and
heavy. I have a ladder I was going to put a back on so he could walk up that, but I just never have put a back on it. There is a parade 09/26, the Waller Country Fair Parade...
if I can get the pony, cart, pup and maybe goat up there, we will be in parade... but I'm not sure we will make it this
year. Haven't decided yet whether I will even try. I'm also going to Navasota, or Bryan, one or the other,
to this event for dogs that day.
Hi Debra, I got the papers back and will send them off, thanks! Yesterday I took Seagaze to Petsmart and then to my dad's for some socialization. She did good. She did lay on the floor in Petsmart by the register and not want to get up, but she did once I showed her the treat! Anyways, my dad commented on how white her teeth were and I was wondering what you did to keep them in good shape? I gave her a bath and blow dry on Saturday and her coat looks nice and healthy. Thanks, Michelle Thank you for this information, I have
been giving her bones regularly. but I'll use the tools because I want to keep them in good shape. The
lady at Petsmart was hesitant to give them treats and she said that she had been bitten twice, both times by collies,
but mine gave her a good experience! I think it is quite a sight for people to see the two collies together, they make
a beautiful match, I will have to take some pictures.
I am taking Seagaze for an agility evaluation on Saturday morning so I will let you know how it goes. Thanks, Michelle Seagaze is doing really well. She is learning our routine. She has had some barking
issues over various noises in the house (blow dryer, garbage disposal, washing machine) where she starts barking and getting
very excited, but she is learning not to worry about them. I just say her name and put my hand out like "stop"
and tell her settle and she is starting to understand. I took her to Petsmart on Sunday and walked her around, she did
well. Pics of big bad too fat Billy, Ginger at almost 5 months old, and Jazz eating (as usual).
I keep having a slip of the tongue, calling Ginger Grace, so I have to keep correcting myself. Isn't she gorgeous!!
Sweet, sweet, too. She starts obedience class tomorrow night, right after having her booster shots and getting vet checked.
She is my 60th birthday present to myself, after losing Grace. In their middle age crazies, men get harley's, guns,
boats, fancy cars... women get boob jobs, face lifts, etc., some travel, but me... I get critters... HA! I'm so
happy I chose her! She will go everywhere with me that she can!!! I hope to show her, and yes, she will ride in
the cart with me and Jazz!!
click this link to Captain Kirk's page Hi Debra, Just a quick note to let you know that I will have home e-mail soon and will be able to send pics of my two
buds, Larkin and Kirk. Larkin
has gained about 10 pounds of lean muscle. He looks awesome—no fat at all. Boy, can he run fast. So graceful. Larkin has to be in the same room
as me, or he is not happy. That makes me VERY happy to have such a companion. He brings me a shoe, a sock, a shirt, or something of mine
and drops it at my feet if I am not paying attention to him. He loves going up the stairs every chance he gets. Kirk is still growing everyday. His tail is now very bushy
and some of Tango’s coloring is really showing up. He is just starting to grow his mane. He still eats everything fast and furious. He and Larkin love each other and are a joy to
just watch as they play. I can’t imagine not having two of them (just as my first e-mail/survey to you stated—I
always wanted 2!!!). Larkin
loves the leather couch and now believes it is his (must be a collie thing). Both dogs do not like the carpeting and try to
scratch it away every chance they get. They do love the cold tile floors. I registered Kirk with the AKC and just got an advertisement from the AKC for ------------------
Captain Kirk. -------------? Boy, don’t you wish…. :) I’ll have them correct that back to Honeytree. Take care. Dan
Good Morning, Debra and Shawn! Yes, you certainly may put it
on your website. I think Mom is going to
Hi Debra, I just wanted to update you on Lucy.
She is doing really really well! She is the sweetest and most loving puppy. She is friends with everyone she meets!
It looks like her adult coat is coming in; she has a shiny line of coarser hair running down her spine. I have taken
her to a dog park a couple of times and she plays with tons of neighbor dogs. She loves to run and play. She is
so funny because she doesn't care for fetch but she love to run after a dog playing fetch. She is getting really
tall, she was around 25 pounds two weeks ago; its almost impossible to carry her anymore! I think she is
going to be an amazing dog. I have attached some
pictures I took today. Meredith
