Hi Debra,
Thanks for the great pictures and the grooming lesson!!! It was fun and we both learned a lot! I have found most of the products on line and Richard has a Dremel tool.

Yep, I've been meaning to email you for, I don't know, a week? ^^;

He's amazing! He was great n the car, we (I took a nap too) slept the whole way until we both almost flew out of the seat. He learned a valuable lesson about chasing chickens on his second day here! Poor guy, he chased the leader of the flock. Dobby cornered him in the chicken pen, and I had to rescue him. The next day he tried chasing her again, and when I came outside he was on his back with a chicken standing on him. He doesn't chase the chickens anymore.
When we took him to the vet, he was so calm! He didn't mind the shots at all, and didn't even flinch when they took his temperature or played with his paws and tail. He actually took a nap in the exam room. :)
He's already got "sit" down, and is almost completely potty trained. We're working on "lay down", "come", and "heel" right now, and he's already heeling pretty good. He's smarter than I expected, and everyone loves him! Even Lola has only growled at him once or twice, better than I expected. So, all in all, he's doing great!

Hi Debra,
We enjoyed a pleasant Fourth  of July weekend in the northern part of Oregon - very pretty and quite a bit cooler than home.  A boisterous wind came up every afternoon for a few hours.  It made starting the barbecue fire a challenge, but we got it done and got our food cooked.  Scott is just fantastic cooking on the grill.

Bethany enjoyed the cooler weather as well as being off the leash most of the time (we were on private property, not in a camp ground) and playing with her friends, Reggie and Raffie, a couple of one-year-old yellow lab brothers.  We had fun hiking trails and the labs, of course, went into the water.

As you probably know, Bethany is 2 1/2 now.  She is completely out of her chewing phase and has settled into a routine.  She is so good-natured, gentle, sweet, and loving!  She and I have a special, very strong bond.  We communicate with a look and a touch more than with my words.  I often know what she wants with just one look.

I can't remember the last time I wrote to you, so please forgive me if I repeat something.

Bethany completed level II of agility, and rather than wait for a level III class, I took her straight to private lessons.  We have a good teacher who has been doing this for 15 years.  I say "we" because I am learning as much or more than Bethany!  I have to learn how to communicate through gestures, commands and body language, to give Bethany the right instructions for the course.  It's fun and good for both of us.   Agility class is the time when Bethany thinks.  You can see it on her face.  With her, it's never a question of "am I going to do what you're asking" but "do I understand what you're asking?"  She is such a good girl.  She can get distracted or bored, so you have to keep the energy high with praise and attention.  She is doing well.  The teacher took some photos of us, but I will have to scan them in before I can send them to you.  One of these days...

Now that the weather is hot, we take our long walk in the mornings.  The dogs get a shorty at noon and another at night, after it's cooled down some.

Right now we are at our trailer in the mountains.  Earlier tonight, after we'd been here about a half hour, Bethany gave me a look as I passed by and petted her.  The look was gratitude, and I perceived that she was glad to be back at the trailer where it is cool.  She loves it here.

Recently, Scott's daughter and her family were here at the trailer.  Reese, who's five, rode her bicycle around and Bethany followed her intently, making sure she didn't fall, wander too far, or come to any harm.  Sienna, the baby, was in her carrier thing, and Bethany was very interested in her, and started to lick the baby's feet.  Steve (Scott's son-in-law) had a fit about that, but when Steve wasn't looking, Erica (Scott's daughter) let Bethany lick the baby's feet!!  Erica grew up with McKeever, the tri male collie Scott loved so well.  Scott says often now that Bethany is "more like McKeever".

I recently switched from EVO to Taste of the Wild dog food.  She is doing fantastic on it, the salmon variety.  Seems to like a change.

Well, that's all for now.  Sorry, no pictures this time.  I will try to send some to you soon.

Take care,
Amy

That sheep herding day was SO much fun! I loved meeting the other collies and their people and seeing the dogs in action chasing those sheep. Luz was whupped that afternoon and took a long nap on the cool tile. Thanks for setting it all up and I look forward to other events!

Hi Debra,
I decided to go with CJ (upon your recommendation) and didn't ask -------to send any other pictures of her litter because I didn't want to be tempted to change my mind because of the full collars I might see.  You seemed very confident that the ---------mix was a good balance of health and beauty and those are my main concerns.

Your lesson about "white collars" was an eye opener as I didn't realize that less experienced "backyard breeder" types would focus on that to the exclusion of other more important factors as a sales "gimmick."  As much as I love those full white collars, I don't want to wait too much longer in pursuit of that trait.

Although I "think" I'm ok cancer-wise (it will be three years in July), I have this sense of urgency about living whatever dreams that I have now (just in case).  I know that might sound a little morbid, but it's very compelling for me.  I used to put a lot of things off, almost indefinitely if I couldn't make up my mind about something.  Now I really feel my mortality acutely and just want to enjoy whatever time I have left whether it is a year, five, ten or more.  I hope this makes sense.  I'm really not that passionate about many things, but our dogs take priority in my life.  I rarely go on vacation because where my dogs are is where I most want to be.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so understanding about me deciding not to wait until fall/winter.  I want to feel that I can drop you a line with a question or send you pictures (if you want) and hope that my decision not to wait hasn't disappointed you.  Somehow I feel that it's not JUST about the sale for you...and that you want everyone involved to be happy.  I feel that you have been the kindest and most ethical breeder ..... I feel that you will be happy for me after all of my suffering over Luke's horrible health and death.  I also feel like we are somehow connected even though it is not a direct puppy from you.  You steered me in the direction I needed to go and your bloodline is in him.

I hope you don't think the name "Laddie" is too silly.  I know there is an old movie called, "Son of Lassie" with Elizabeth Taylor.  ---, it seemed cute.
Cindy

Thanks so much Debra.  I'll be ordering these for Miss Wrigley! :)  She is such a doll!  We are so in love with her.  She just chewed up my cell phone and chewed my computer power cord in two!  I blame myself and am much more careful.  She is 10 months old now and people just go crazy over how beautiful she is.  She got an eye infection and I took her to the vet and he just kept going on and on about how beautiful she was and how cool it is to see a Collie... ( Cool to OWN one too!) :)

Blessings to you and yours!

Debra,

Mr. ---- and I have been talking back and forth yesterday and today about Braveheart.  We are going to meet next Tuesday.  They are going to meet me in Corsicana at noon.  His wife works in Corsicana.  The more we have talk, the more I feel that it is the right home.  He said Braveheart  will have the run of the place.  And, they also plan to do the grooming theirselves.  I explained to him that he would need to be bathed and brushed out once a month.  He seemed okay with it.  He has changed his mind about the dryer, though,  and now wants to buy it, too.  He said that they had had a Great Pyrenese before that swam in the pond everyday when it was hot.  So it would be best if they had the dryer in the event that Braveheart should take up the same practice.

I like him and am looking forward to meeting them both.  Mr ------ is going to walk Braveheart daily and work further on his obedience.  And he wants to play fetch with him.  I get the feeling that he is the most excited about getting Braveheart.  The price we have agreed on is $500 for Braveheart and $50 for the dryer.  They have asked for a collar, leash and brush, and I said 'okay'.  They also asked for his car/crate foam matte, but I said 'no'  to that. I will have him all bathed and groomed/trimmed and will send with him a few days of food and a month tube of revolution.  And also, I will send my love.  I am so glad that Mr ---- and I talked alot more, cause it is helping me to feel a bit better about loosing my beloved Braveheart.  I didn't want him to just be safe, I want him to be happy.

Thank you so much, Debra.  None of this would have been possible without your help.  I wouldn't have gotten much, if any money.  I would not have been able to have found a home where I knew he would be happy and be able to live out the remainder of his life in comfort and enjoyment.  He's gonna love herding and/or barking at the ducks, swan and horses.

Blessings,

Debbie

Dear Debra,
Thank you so much for allowing us to visit.  All the collies were beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves very much.  Jim said we were there for an hour and a half, but it felt like 15 minuets to me!
Thank you too for the information you provided.  Your interest and love of collies is apparent; therefore you are the breeder for us!
Right before we left, when I got all choked up again, I was just trying to convey to you that we had a large home with plenty of room for a large dog; and that we would definitely spoil him with tenderness galore.  I was wanting to tell you that we loved Noah so much, that never an unkind word or gesture was ever made to him; he led a wonderful, happy, loved life with us and that we were so privileged to have such a sweetheart love us in return.
We look forward to the information you have on Max; and as soon as we decide he is NOT for us, we will send your deposit right away, and we will look forward once again to a new little fellow.  I did want to mention again- and I am just putting this out there; but I really did have an emotional connection to Regard - and if you EVER decide you want to find a home for him, PLEASE, PLEASE let us have the first option!  I KNOW you absolutely intend on keeping him for breeding; but should you decide otherwise at some point, I would take him in a heartbeat!  He had that same beautiful look in his eyes that Noah had!
Well - Enjoy your banana-nut bread!  I think I will get me a piece as well :) !

Cinnamon New Life with her family
Cinema/Cinnamon20091yr.jpg

Cinnamon turned a year old thought you would like the picture!

In November we participated in a Dog walk @ the local PetCo with her Trainer.  She was spayed in November and came though it with no problem.  She is a wonderful addition to our family.  She graduated from basic puppy classes and we are looking into agility training, or obedience.  She loves the Dog group as she loves to run.

Just thought I would thank you again for this treasure and wish you a Happy New Year and all the best.

Regards,

Mary

Dear Debra,

In order to make your list more manageable, you can remove my name.  We are still keeping Gorgeous (Caileigh) at our home.  She is making such amazing progress in her little habits.  My husband was praising her last night in how much she has changed in the last few weeks!  She now waits to be invited into the kitchen (I cook a lot, and I am always afraid I will spill something hot on the puppies, so we encourage them to sit just outside the perimeter of the kitchen.)    She is so much fun - I don't think David will want to let her go to my Mom's home.  She has become his buddy - by his side all the time.  Me?  She just tries to herd me like she does our cat and other two Bichons!

I have your email address, and will continue to check on your progress - I feel like I am almost a member of your family since I look in on your litters all the time.  However, at the moment, we are not looking for another puppy (who knows?  maybe in the future!)

Thank you so much for all your guidance and kindness.  You have truly been a blessing to our family, and we really appreciate everything you have done!

Best wishes to you and your husband, and all your little people!

Honeytree Olive Blue CGC
CASHMERE/Olive2009teenAger3.JPG

Debra, Good Luck with your new pup, he is so good looking. Just wanted to give you an update on Olive. She is now 9 months old and has turned into the most wonderful dog. From the beginning she was sooo smart. She was easily house trained and NEVER was destructive. Olive can be a bit stubborn at times, she likes her way, so I have to be consistent with her.  She still has all her baby toys, all intact. She plays well with the cat and our other dog Pepper who is a crazy schnauzer. Olive absolutely LOVES children. She is so gentle, kind and protective of them. I have never seen such a strong trait in a dog before. I wish I would have had her when my children were growing up. Olive has completed a puppy and basic obedience course. She also completed her CGC class but we are still practicing before we test. My future goal is to pursue Therapy Dog status with her.( I am an RN and Dee Dee is a physician) I think she will work well with children or people in need. People just want to reach out and touch her. We get stopped were ever we go because she is such a striking looking dog, people are drawn to her. I think she will be able to help others in only ways we can't imagine. She is a gentle dog with a good personality as well as good looks! She won "Most Regal" at our library community event and loved the attention. She doesn't love grooming but she tolerates her bath and brushing. She loves the rain and is not afraid of thunder. As a pup she suffered from car sickness but we worked thru it and it is now resolved as well as her initial skin eruption. She is fine now.

She is enjoying the cool weather and likes to be outdoors. She sits on top of our hill and protects her imaginary sheep! She is so funny! There is a herding class coming up and I am thinking of enrolling her. Olives downfall is chasing the weed whacker. I also have to put her up when we use the chainsaw for cutting firewood. She also chases cars along the fence line. We are working with these issues so if you have any suggestions that would help. Can't say enough about how happy I am with her even though she favors Dee Dee more than me. Olive understands Dee Dee "goes to work" and "will be back"as she is often away for long periods of time. She is always excited when Dee Dee returns and wants to be with her. They go for long walks and have bonded very strongly. Strangers often stop me because they want to know if "she will have puppies" or "where did you get her"; needless to say I refer them to you.  Well enough for now, let me know if you want pictures of Olive as I would be glad to send them to you.

Thank you for our beautiful Honey Tree Olive Blue as she has been a joy and a wonderful enrichment to our lives as well as whomever she seems to come in contact with.

Forever thankful,

Darlene

Hi Debra,

Just wanted to send you some of the latest pictures of Jasmine.  She is doing well here and is such a part of our family now we can't imagine life without her.  She has been going to obedience training for the past 3 months, and will graduate next week after she passes her final exam, which I am sure she will.  She blew the practice exam this past thursday out of the water. She is so smart.  She knows now how to walk on a leash with an automatic sit when I stop, how to down, stay, down and stay, and come.  We are currently about to start off leash training, and she is learing  her right and left. :-)   She also has learned some jobs around the house like sitting and staying while I am putting Barrett to bed, and when he and I are playing in his play area she sits right outside the play area keeping an eye on things.  Hope you enjoy the pictures. We sure are crazy about this dog.

Tiffany

-

Debra,

I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know how Jasmine is doing.  She was very nervous her first two weeks with us, I can only see that now, because this week her personality is really coming out.  She has started playing with us, her tail is wagging and up in the air, and I can tell that she is comfortable and feels good. She was spayed on Monday, and it went really well. No complications so far.  On Tuesday she was up and walking around (gingerly), and by Thursday she was wanting to play for the first time since we have brought her home. :-)  She still has to take it easy for a few more days though, but we can't wait until next week to start playing with her more.  She sleeps in our room on a comforter on the floor with her legs strait up in the air :-)  She is so funny, and makes us laugh when she kicks the wall at night when she is dreaming legs all the while strait up in the air.  She is my companion during the day and is constantly checking on Barrett (our son), and giving him kisses.  I am trying to teach her not to kiss him on the face. I tell her several times per day "Not on the face," and this week she has started to kiss him on the ears instead of the face.  It totally cracks me up, because I guess technically that isn't on the face.  She is a real snuggle bug, and seems to love hugs. The fact that she is absolutely beautiful makes you want to hug her all the time. She is still barking at many of the suburban noises (especially blowers), but it has gotten much less since her spay.  She is wary of strangers like she was of us at your house, but I am hoping this gets better since we have lots of visitors at our house all the time.  I think it may in time.  Also I wanted you to know that I contacted unleashed unlimited, and they recommended a training school that was "awesome" as they put it here in houston.  I think we may start in a couple of months.  Also, I was wondering what shampoo/products you used on her coat?  It still looks as good as the day we brought her home, although I know she may need a bath soon.  Okay, sorry for the long email, I will send pictures soon.  Thanks again for such a wonderful girl.

Hi Debra,
I just wanted to give you a little update on Lucy.  She is doing great!  She is such an amazing dog already, so sweet and calm.  She loves to play with neighbohood dogs and loves to get attention from everyone!
She has really started to grow.  She weighs around 40lbs now.  Her coat is looking beautiful, she gets so many compliments.
I got her spayed about a month ago, and everything went great.  She didnt even notice!
I attached a couple of the most current pictures I have of her.

Our only problem is that she gets SO nervous in the car.  She drools everywhere.  Have you ever run into this problem?  Do you maybe have a solution?
